Maman Gâteau

Maman Gâteau is a made-to-measure cake studio in Pully run by Annie, a chef by training who began making cakes in 2022 and has worked under the Maman Gâteau name since 2023. It makes cakes for weddings, birthdays, baby showers and company events, delivers across Lausanne, the Riviera and Greater Lausanne, and prices a first estimate through an online cake builder.
From restaurant kitchens to cakes
The homepage tells Annie's route in dated steps, in the first person. From 2014 to 2016 she trained as a "cheffe de cuisine" (chef) in Peru, which she calls her native country. From 2017 to 2019 she was a cook at the Meliá in Punta Cana and then at the AC Marriott in Lima, where, she writes, she learned "l'exigence des palaces, service après service" (the standards of palace hotels, service after service). In 2020 and 2021 she worked in the southwest of France alongside a Michelin-starred chef, whom the page does not name. In 2022 her daughter was born, and for her first birthday Annie made her very first cake, discovering, as she puts it, a new way to practice her craft. Since 2023 she has made one-off cakes in Pully.
The page sums this up as ten years of demanding cooking, and it matters for how she sells the cakes. Her headline claim is "Beaucoup de gâteaux sont beaux. les miens se dévorent" (many cakes are beautiful; mine get devoured). She writes that many pretty cakes disappoint at the first bite, and that as someone trained in gastronomy who has worked in a starred kitchen, she works on flavor with the same care as decoration. A third point on the same page, headed "Un souvenir, pas un dessert" (a memory, not a dessert), says the cake sits at the center of the photo, the table and the moment, and that her job is to make it remembered long after the last slice. A video interview in which she will talk about her path and her workshop is announced as coming soon.
How she works with a couple
Every creation, the site says, begins with a conversation: the occasion, the colors, the memories you want to bring back. She then designs the cake around what matters to the client. The creations page is explicit that there is "pas de catalogue, pas de série" (no catalog, no series), and that each piece comes out of a conversation.
The site's menu includes a wedding page ("Mariage"), alongside pages for birthdays, cupcakes, the cake builder, delivery and contact. The gallery on the homepage shows categories such as fairy tale, themed, sugar flowers and Toile de Jouy, and the recent work it features is mostly children's birthday cakes, so a couple should ask to see wedding pieces specifically.
To start, the page asks for a date, an idea and three inspiration photos. Contact is by WhatsApp, Instagram (@maman.gateau.suisse) or email, and Annie says she replies personally, with a quick answer by message. The page says orders are ideally placed 2 to 3 weeks in advance.
The cake builder and what it shows about price
The homepage carries a step-by-step tool, "Composer mon gâteau" (build my cake). Its steps are occasion (with wedding as one option), size, flavors, theme, handover and contact, plus the event date. At the end it sends the request directly to Annie, and the page says the quote is free and without obligation, with a reply from Annie within 24 hours.
The tool's default summary shows a format of 1 tier and 14 portions, collection from the workshop, and a cake price of CHF 100, with the estimate at CHF 100. The page describes this as the price for a fine creation, all included, and says Annie confirms the quote, usually unchanged, adjusting it only for an exceptional decoration. That is the starting point for a small one-tier cake, not a wedding cake price, and the site does not show what a multi-tier wedding cake costs. Still, it gives a couple a real figure to begin from.
Delivery area
Delivery, or collection from the workshop in Pully, covers Lausanne, Pully, Vevey, Montreux, Morges, Renens and the whole of Greater Lausanne. The delivery section also names Lutry, Paudex, Belmont, Cully, Savigny, Oron, Échallens, Crissier, Écublens, Saint-Prex, La Tour-de-Peilz, Villeneuve, Cossonay and Aubonne. For anyone further away, the page says to write, adding that a solution can almost always be found. Delivery cost is not shown in the tool's default summary.
Reviews
The site shows a rating of 5.0 from 22 Google reviews and quotes several. Most concern birthday cakes. The longest, from a regular customer, says her cakes are "jamais trop sucrés, préparés avec des ingrédients de qualité aux saveurs naturelles" (never too sweet, made with quality ingredients with natural flavors). Another, from a family who orders themed cakes, says she carries off even the most complex themes. The footer also links to a journal of recent work and a "Devenir partenaire" (become a partner) page, which a planner or venue may want to look at.
What the site does not settle
- Wedding prices. Only the one-tier default estimate is shown; tiered wedding cakes are quoted individually.
- Tastings. No tasting is mentioned.
- Deposit and payment. No terms are published.
- Dietary options. Nothing is said about gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan or allergen options.
- Delivery cost and setup. The site does not give a delivery price or say whether a tiered cake is set up at the venue.
- Language. The site is in French. Annie's work in Peru, Punta Cana and France is on the page, but the site does not say which languages she takes orders in, so ask.
Who it suits
Maman Gâteau suits a couple marrying around Lausanne or on the Riviera who cares about how the cake tastes as much as how it looks, and who likes the idea of a cake designed from a conversation rather than picked from a catalog. The builder's starting price and the 24-hour reply promise make a first approach easy.
The caveats: the business dates from 2023, its published work leans toward birthday cakes, and the site says nothing about tastings, dietary options or wedding cake prices. Ask for wedding examples and a full quote early.
