Nancy's Naschwerk
Tap a star to rate
Nancy's Naschwerk is a cake workshop and pastry shop at Bernstrasse 16 in Flamatt, opened in 2019 by the pastry chef Nancy Müller. It makes cakes to order for weddings and other occasions, sells fresh desserts over the counter, runs cake baking courses, and includes a tasting with every wedding cake order.
How the business started
The "Über uns" (about us) page tells the story in Nancy's own voice. In the winter of 2015 she fell head over heels for a Swiss man, when, she writes, 700 km separated them. Love became a move, and the move became home. Born in Germany in 1983 and a Konditorin (pastry chef) by trade, she started baking again when a neighbor asked her for a cake, and for a while it was a hobby alongside work as a restaurant server.
On 1 January 2019 she founded Naschwerk, a small cake workshop and Konditorei in the center of Flamatt, which celebrated its opening in February 2019. Since then, she writes, she has been making cakes, supplying family celebrations with desserts and sweetening aperitifs every day, and she is glad to give Flamatt its own pastry shop where fresh baked goods and desserts can be bought from Tuesday to Saturday.
The team
Naschwerk is no longer a one-person shop. The about page introduces 2 more pastry chefs:
- Larissa Faller, born in Bern in 1997, started her apprenticeship as a baker and pastry chef in 2013 and then completed an additional apprenticeship as a confiseur in Gstaad. She writes that ordinary bakeries receive too few decorated motif cakes for her taste, which is how she found Naschwerk, and she has worked alongside Nancy since September 2022.
- Jana Siegenthaler, born in Bern in 2005, completed her apprenticeship as a Konditorin-Confiseurin in 2024 and has made cakes with Nancy and Larissa since October 2025.
For a couple that means a small team of trained pastry chefs rather than a single baker, two of whom trained as confiseurs.
Wedding cakes
The homepage has a section headed "Hochzeitstorten" (wedding cakes) with three parts. The first says that during opening hours there is a range of desserts to choose from, and that all cakes are of course available by the slice ("Natürlich sind auch alle Torten zum Anschnitt da"). The second, "Individuelle Degustation", describes the process: a personal conversation to discuss all your wishes and ideas and create an individual cake, and the line "Eine Degustation ist bei einer Bestellung einer Hochzeitstorte inbegriffen" (a tasting is included when you order a wedding cake). The third lists the styles: with or without fondant, naked cake or semi-naked cake, whether classic and elegant, a themed party or what the page calls a prestige wedding. Appointments are booked through the site ("Jetzt Termin vereinbaren").
The homepage frames the whole business around three words: regional (it uses regional, high-quality products), natural (fresh, natural ingredients) and handmade (every cake made by hand). It describes its style as traditional pastry meeting modern cake art, and offers advice without obligation. The occasions it names are weddings, birthdays, confirmations, parties, and cakes for a grandmother or colleagues, and it says each cake is designed and made by hand in the Flamatt bakehouse so that it becomes a one-off. A panel headed "Unser Erfolg seit 2019 in Zahlen" (our success since 2019 in numbers) lists wedding cakes and motif cakes among its counters, though the figures themselves do not appear in the page text. A section headed "Natürlich & Vegan" also appears on the homepage, but in the page text it only repeats that natural and fresh ingredients are used; it does not describe what vegan cakes are offered, so a couple with vegan guests should ask.
Suppliers and partners
The about page names its partners. Eggs come only from the Hühnerhof Neuenegg (Bramberg), run by the Herren family, where Nancy says she checked animal welfare for herself. Bread comes from Bäckerei Brotbrösmeli in Überstorf every Saturday. Naschwerk supplies weekly desserts to Restaurant Sense Au at the campsite in Thörishaus, Restaurant Waage and Madlen's in Schmitten, and it is an official cake supplier to the BEO-Funpark. It also works with DogX, a dog sports school in Flamatt, whose members get 10% off at Naschwerk. The page ends by inviting other businesses with ideas for a collaboration to get in touch.
For catering, the page recommends a partner: Party-Service-Sense, run by the Wanner family in Neuenegg, with whom Naschwerk says it works closely. That is a separate business, not Naschwerk's own catering, but the menu also lists "Apero Catering" and "Zuckerwatte" (cotton candy) pages, which may interest a couple planning a wedding aperitif.
Visiting and contact
The shop's hours are Monday 08:00 to 16:00, Tuesday to Friday 08:00 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 18:00, and Saturday 07:30 to 16:00. It closes for a company holiday from 20 to 24 August and at Christmas on 25 and 26 December. The shop also sells a small range of baking decorations in its "Back-Atelier" and offers cake baking courses. Contact is by phone on +41 79 952 57 51, by email to nancy@torte-naschwerk.ch, or through an online order form.
What the site does not settle
- Prices. No prices are published for wedding cakes.
- Lead time. No ordering deadline is given.
- Delivery. The site does not say whether wedding cakes are delivered and set up at a venue, or how far the team travels.
- Vegan and allergens. Vegan is named in a heading but not described, and allergens are not covered.
- Language. The site is in German, with some Bernese dialect. It does not say whether consultations are held in English.
- Access. The address is given, but no parking or public transport details.
Who it suits
Nancy's Naschwerk suits a couple marrying near Flamatt who wants a handmade cake from a small team of trained pastry chefs, likes the idea of tasting before deciding, and values a shop that names its egg supplier. The included tasting and the chance to try cakes in the shop make it easy to judge the flavors in person.
The caveats: the site is in German, publishes no prices, lead times or delivery terms, and is vague on vegan cakes. A couple planning from abroad should settle language, delivery and timing when booking the tasting.
