A cake manufactory in Suhr
Törtlifee is a "Tortenmanufaktur" (cake manufactory) and confectionery at Tramstrasse 25, 5034 Suhr, in the canton of Aargau. The homepage sums up its style as "Torten und Sweets im englischen Stil", cakes and sweets in the English style, and its daily range runs from cupcakes and cake pops to macarons, bars, mini cakes and cookies. Weddings have their own section of the site, and the made-to-measure wedding cake page opens with a confident claim: Törtlifee "zählt zu den ersten Adressen im Mittelland, wenn es um individuell gestaltete Hochzeitstorten geht" (counts among the leading addresses in the Swiss Mittelland for individually designed wedding cakes).
The page sets a high bar for itself: "Wir sind erst zufrieden, wenn Gestaltung und Geschmack in perfekter Harmonie stehen" (we are only satisfied when design and taste are in perfect harmony). The café that used to sit alongside the manufactory, the "Fairyhouse" tearoom, has been closed permanently since 25 September 2025, according to the homepage.
Two routes to a wedding cake
Törtlifee offers two quite different ways to buy a wedding cake.
Basic wedding cakes are set designs you configure and order online at a fixed price, without a consultation or tasting. The listing shows semi-naked cakes from 220 CHF (Semi Naked Cake Basic) to 244 CHF (with ferns), buttercream cakes from 229 CHF (waves) to 259 CHF (little flowers), and a buttercream cake with gold leaf at 248 CHF. The FAQ explains why they cost less than a one-off: no personal meeting and tasting, no individual quote, and a design the whole production team already knows how to make.
Made-to-measure wedding cakes ("Massgeschneiderte Hochzeitstorten") start with a tasting and end with a sketch and a personal quote. This is the route for anything specific.
How the made-to-measure cake is planned
The wedding page describes the process in 4 stages.
- Erste Inspiration & Planung (first inspiration and planning). Before getting in touch, couples are asked to think about which design directions suit their wedding, what size the cake should be (guests, tiers) and what budget to allow for.
- Hochzeitstermin reservieren (reserve your date). Ideally 3 to 9 months ahead, though the page says earlier or shorter-notice inquiries are fine too. After you fill in the contact form, Törtlifee emails an overview of its wedding information and a link to book a tasting.
- Ihr persönliches Tasting-Erlebnis (your tasting). At the tasting you try a selection of sponges and fillings, and the sales team guides you through the design and pins down the design cornerstones of your cake, "von Stil und Farbwelt bis hin zu besonderen Details" (from style and color palette to special details). Within 1 week the production team sends a sketch of the cake with a tailored quote by email.
- Lieferung oder Abholung (delivery or pickup).
The FAQ gives a slightly different lead time for a made-to-measure cake: about 6 months ahead, or earlier. It explains that only a limited number of consultations fit into each week, fewer during the wedding season from May to October. If you know the date but not the design, you can reserve the date first and book the consultation no later than 2 months before the wedding.
Styles
The page walks through the design directions with examples: hand-piped royal icing lace and sugar flowers, for vintage or boho looks or to echo the dress or the invitation; "Luxury Style" cakes, which the page calls "echte Showstopper" (real showstoppers), opulent and made for large parties; a "Wooden Style" with a wood-grain finish; hand-painted watercolor cakes; theme cakes built around a film, a hobby or a shared adventure; buttercream cakes without fondant; semi-naked cakes; clean "Modern Style" designs; and small cakes for a civil ceremony or an intimate party.
One practical note from the FAQ: the sugar flowers are technically edible but not meant to be eaten, since many have a polystyrene core and are wired, petal by petal. They keep for years if kept out of direct sun and damp. Fondant cakes cost more than buttercream ones because they need a perfectly smooth buttercream layer underneath first.
Size and portions
The page explains how the cakes are built: 4 layers of sponge and 3 layers of filling, chosen from buttercream, ganache or yogurt mousse. For a wedding where the cake is the main dessert, Törtlifee calculates 1.3 slices per person; if there are other desserts, 1 slice per person is enough. A slice is about 2.5 × 5 × 10 cm and weighs around 100 to 130 g.
Alternatives and extras
A cupcake tower has a decorated cake on the top tier and cupcakes on the lower tiers, so there is still a cake to cut. A sweets table can include cake, cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, macarons, brownies, blondies, meringues, marshmallows, sugared almonds and more. Desserts in glasses (panna cotta, chocolate mousse, yogurt mousse, tiramisu, cheesecake) are offered for dessert buffets, and the page says they come in vegan and lactose-free versions too.
Dietary needs
A section headed "Allergiker? Vegan? We got you." says cakes can be made gluten-free, lactose-free, free of whey or milk sugar, or vegan, and asks guests with specific allergies or intolerances to write so a solution can be found together. The detail of what is possible is for the tasting.
Delivery and pickup
Törtlifee delivers with its own refrigerated van, across Switzerland and to nearby areas across the border. The FAQ publishes the charges, with both the outward and return trip always counted: 35 CHF for 0 to 20 km, 50 CHF for 21 to 35 km, and 1.50 CHF per km from 36 km, staff costs included. For exports, an external service handles customs, and the page says it coordinates export and customs clearance so the cake arrives on time; delivery dates abroad are limited by export times. Deliveries are planned each Tuesday and Wednesday, and venues and caterers are contacted on the Wednesday and Thursday of the wedding week to coordinate.
You can also collect the cake yourself. Cool boxes are available against a deposit, and for tiered cakes the page suggests checking in advance that the cake will fit upright and secure in your car.

What a couple from abroad should know
Language. The site is in German, with the odd English phrase. It does not say whether tastings can be held in English. Ask when you fill in the form.
Timing. Aim for about 6 months ahead for a made-to-measure cake, especially for a date between May and October. If you cannot travel to Suhr early, the date can be reserved first and the consultation booked later, at the latest 2 months before.
Weddings abroad. Delivery to nearby countries is possible, with customs handled through an external service. Ask about timing well in advance.
Who it suits
Törtlifee suits couples who want a choice between a quick, fixed-price Basic cake and a fully designed one, clear guidance on portions, and professional delivery with published rates.
