Rosepepper is a design, decoration and floristry studio at Pfeffingerstrasse 80 in Basel, run by Natascha Hoffmann. For weddings it develops the concept and handles the decoration, flowers and often the stationery, and its site shows a run of named, strongly themed weddings, from a padel court wedding in Basel to a tent wedding in the mountains. It also decorates corporate events, trade fair stands and shop windows, makes funeral flowers for children and young people, and runs craft workshops.

The style

The homepage headline promises kitsch-free weddings, events and more (kitschbefreite Hochzeiten). The studio describes itself in one sentence: "ROSEPEPPER steht für stilvolle, moderne Dekorationen die voller Persönlichkeit stecken." (Rosepepper stands for stylish, modern decorations full of personality.) It says it designs weddings, events, shop windows and trade fair stands that "berühren, begeistern, Spass machen und in Erinnerung bleiben" (touch, inspire, are fun and stay in the memory).

The wedding portfolio backs that up. The menu lists twelve wedding stories: Rainy Summer Wedding, Crazy Rainbow Wedding, Padel Wedding, Disco Chic, Cool, cooler, colorful, Modern Italy, Mountain Tent Wedding, Color Splash, Blue Shell, Disco Deluxe, Tomato Love and Barbie Wedding. Couples who want color, humor and a clear theme will recognize themselves here; couples who want a traditional, understated look should look through the galleries first to see whether anything matches.

Four weddings in detail

Several of the wedding pages carry a short description and full credits, which is useful because it shows what Rosepepper actually did on each day and who it worked with.

The Padel Wedding (Anja and Josua) is described as a wedding on the padel court in Basel, with unusual and modern wedding decoration. Rosepepper is credited with the concept, decoration, flowers and stationery. The location was the Social Padel Club, planning was by Wildflower Wedding, photos by Selina Seibel and hair and makeup by Jenna Möller.

The Crazy Rainbow Wedding (Jacky and Silvan) is described as a modern, colorful wedding with disco balls, tulle clouds and plenty of fun. Again Rosepepper did the concept, decoration, flowers and stationery, at the Enea Baummuseum, with planning by Anna Hild and photos by Sommerfeld.

The Rainy Summer Wedding (Fiona and Marco), titled Colorful Boho, is described as a rainy, colorful wedding at the Enea Baummuseum in Rapperswil. Rosepepper did the concept, decoration and flowers; photos are by Ella Fotografie.

The Mountain Tent Wedding (Noemi and David) is described as a modern wedding in the mountains, photographed by Kuenzli Photography and planned by Wildflower Weddings. Rosepepper is credited with the concept, decoration, flowers and details.

Two things stand out for a couple planning from abroad. First, the studio has worked away from Basel: Rapperswil and a mountain wedding appear in its own portfolio. Second, it regularly works alongside separate wedding planners, so it fits into a team rather than trying to run the whole day. The stationery credit on two of the four pages means invitations and table paper can come from the same designer as the flowers. And two of the four weddings took place at the Enea Baummuseum in Rapperswil, so a couple booked there can ask to see how the studio has already dressed that venue, once in rain and once as a rainbow party.

Events, windows and workshops

The events page covers smart corporate events, relaxed summer parties and trade fair decoration. The examples include flowers for the Art Basel Awards, a company anniversary at Halle 7 planned by Let's Celebrate (Anna Wyss), a networking event at the Walzhalle in Münchenstein, the 150th anniversary of Feldschlösschen, another company event at Halle 7 and a shop opening for Astro Fries. There is also a shop window (Schaufenster) section.

The homepage adds that the studio makes funeral floristry aimed specifically at children and young people, and offers creative workshops, crafting with beads, flowers and more. The page title names workshops for hen parties (Junggesellinnenabschiede) and company events, and the homepage points to a list of upcoming dates. For a bride whose friends travel in for the wedding, a flower workshop in Basel could be a hen party option, though the site gives no prices or group sizes for it.

Contact and language

Contact is by email to mail@rosepepper.ch or by phone on +41 76 395 79 77. The homepage also has a newsletter sign-up and links to a Team Rosi page and a contact page.

The site is in German, with English used for the wedding titles and some headings. It does not say whether Natascha Hoffmann works in English, so couples who need to plan in English should ask in their first email.

Making a first inquiry

Because there are no packages, the first email does the work of a brief. The portfolio suggests what to include: the venue and date, whether a planner is already involved (most of the credited weddings had one), which of the named weddings comes closest to the look you want, and which parts you want from the studio, whether concept, decoration, flowers, stationery or all four. The credits show that Rosepepper is used to being one of several named suppliers, so giving it the planner's contact early will save a round of emails.

What the site leaves open

The site publishes no prices for weddings, events or workshops. The homepage shows the words "15 % Rabatt" (15% discount) next to the wedding section, without saying what the discount applies to or when, so ask about it if you inquire. There is no stated service area: the portfolio includes Basel, Rapperswil and the mountains, but the site does not say how far the studio will travel or how travel is charged. It does not describe whether decoration is rented for the day or made for you to keep, how setup and removal are handled, or how far in advance to book.

Who it suits

Rosepepper suits couples who want a wedding with a strong visual idea and some wit: bright colors, disco balls, a theme carried through the flowers, decoration and paper. It works well alongside a separate planner, as several of its portfolio weddings show, and it has taken its work to venues outside Basel.

It is a weaker fit for couples who want a classic, muted wedding, or who need everything, including planning, from one supplier. Couples planning in English should confirm the language before they invest time in a concept.
